Jag Grewal of Ian Black Real Estate earns dual SIOR designation

Jag Grewal, CCIM, SIOR, of Sarasota-based Ian Black Real Estate recently achieved the SIOR dual designation in both the industrial and office specialties, awarded by the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® (SIOR). While most professionals whoearn the SIOR credential hold either the office or the industrial designation, Grewal is one of only 10 practicing commercial real estate brokers in the state of Florida to hold the dual designation, and one of two in the Southwest Florida market.

"We're proud to have three SIOR designated brokers and five CCIM designated brokers on our team," said Ian Black, partner at Ian Black Real Estate. "To achieve these designations, you have to close a certain number of transactions, which speaks to the success of our brokers and our team." SIOR is a Washington, D.C.-based international professional organization of more than 3,200 commercial real estate professionals who have earned the coveted SIOR designation. Individuals who hold the SIOR designation are top producers in the commercial real estate field and are represented in more than 685 cities in 36 countries around the world. SIOR enforces a strict code of ethics and requires designees to complete its ethics course within their first three years of membership.

"SIOR is a prestigious organization known for its ethics and its representation of seasoned commercial real estate brokers," said Grewal, partner at Ian Black Real Estate. "It is a great honor to earn this designation, as it acknowledges that I've been successful at a career that I love." To achieve the SIOR designation, candidates must have completed at least five years of creditable experience in industrial and office real estate; met stringent education requirements; and demonstrated professional ability, competency, ethical conduct and personal integrity.

During his more than 20-year career in commercial real estate, Grewal has completed sales and lease transactions totaling more than $500 million in the Sarasota-Manatee market. He has represented companies such as the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, the Asolo Repretory Theatre, BB&T, Tervis Tumbler and Starbucks. Grewal helped start Ian Black Real Estate in 2009 as a partnership with Ian Black, Steve Horn and Marci Marsh. Prior to joining the Ian Black Real Estate team, he was a broker with Coldwell Banker, where he rose to be the top agent in the Sarasota market in 2006. He was also named Commercial Realtor of the Year by The REALTOR® Association of Sarasota and Manatee in 2007.

Grewal is past president of the Commercial Investment Division and has served on the board of directors for the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance. He is also a board member of the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation and serves on the board of trustees for Forty Carrots Family Center. Grewal obtained his CCIM designation from the Certified Commercial Investment Member Institute in 2015. "I am confident that when I refer a client to another SIOR that they are in good hands, and vice versa," said Grewal. "Earning this designation will ensure that my clients are dealing with someone who has the knowledge, ability and relationships to serve them best."

Nick DeVito, II, SIOR, a partner at Ian Black Real Estate, and Melissa Harris, SIOR, a sales associate at the firm, also hold the SIOR designation.
